I forgot all about this character on Charlie Brown but thought it was so awesome when I rediscovered him…
It’s Rerun Van Pelt, the younger brother of Lucy and Linus.
And when he was first introduced, in the early 70′s, he was always on the back of his mom’s bike. He was also always terrified because his mom crashed into parked cars frequently. Rerun can be heard warning his mom of upcoming obstacles, encouraging her to pedal harder and singing to take his mind off the worrying.
I’d like to think that Eli doesn’t have that much to complain about. Or at least that he doesn’t know the actual words with which to properly complain. Yet.
He definitely has it easier than Rerun. I mean, he travels with a sippy cup of milk, a book and his blankie in the bike trailer. Can you say deluxe?
