This one comes to you from May of 1976 and features 3-month old me sitting on my grandmother’s lap…with my Frejka pillow.
The Frejka pillow is not some Ikea accessory (although it sounds like it) but is, instead, a device used to help treat hip dysplasia. I’ve written before about how I was born with my femur dislocated from my hip socket but now that I have a kid of my own, I’m reminded of what an intense experience I went through as a baby.
It’s hard for me to imagine how difficult it must have been for my parents…dealing with a baby in a cast, much less hauling a baby around with a weird-shaped pillow between her legs. Thanks again Mom and Dad for being so vigilant about keeping my ass clean and for doing whatever was needed for your somewhat physically-defective daughter.
I never could’ve done it without you.
Seriously.
