Reason #29 I love Crossfit Roots

When I got pregnant, I didn’t have many mommy friends.

Or any mommy friends really. At least none that lived close.

So when a few other lady athletes got preggers at the Crossfit shop, just a few months after me, I saw a window of opportunity.

[Two of these ladies just happened to rub my belly when I was early on in my pregnancy and both were with child soon thereafter. I'm taking full responsibility.]

They would be my new mommy friends, I swore to myself, oh yes, they would.

It started with an email intro, progressed to a play date here, a little coffee meetup there and before you know it, BAM. I’m friends with cool moms who like to do pull-ups until their hands bleed. Not really.

Okay, sometimes.

The community at Roots provided support for me at a time when I needed it most. Like they do when I’m about to puke after doing too many intense wall balls. Say what you want about Crossfit, it’s provided me with a group of mamas to hang out with that understand my humor, my frustrations and my sore quads.

And the fact that they’re all snarky AND strong as hell keeps me honest.

Girl Mom power FTW.
