Reason #56 I love CrossFit Roots

In addition to the awesome workouts and knowledgeable coaches, I really love the people I work out with early in the mornings.

Especially this lovely lady.

CrossFitRoots_Dre

She goes by Dr. Dre around the shop and she does a great job of reminding me that I’m a badass.

(I forget sometimes. Especially at 5:30 am.)

Besides her constant encouragement, she’s also just a ray of sunshine. Super-positive, funny and very caring, Dre is one of the things I most look forward to at CrossFit.

The other reason I love her? She convinced her 18-year-old son to join CF and start working out with her. As a new mom, this is something I adored seeing. I can only dream of a time when Eli and I can push each other towards lifting heavy shit (right now, I’m just lifting him a lot) or cheer each other on at the end of a grueling WOD. It’s completely inspiring.

(Yes, she’s the mom of an 18-year-old. Crazy, right?)

As if Dre wasn’t badass enough, she broke through the other morning and got her first pull-up! WOOT.

Way to go darling!

Thanks for all the smiles, jokes and good times.

(And big thanks for pretending not to notice how red, sweaty and disgusting I am at the end of each workout…)

The number one reason why I CrossFit is for the people, too. Great ode to your CF friend :)
